New Release: Letters To Aunt Lucy by Stephanie B.

The last month was an extremely busy and productive one. Along with putting together my own collection of haikus, I worked to publish a new chapbook by Philly writer, Stephanie B. It’s very exciting to have a new author join us on A Freedom Books.

Letters To Aunt Lucy is “a letter and poetry exchange between a letter-writer and the Australopithecus Lucy. It’s an exploration of deep ancestral memory, our biology, and the many forms of love we share with ourselves, each other, all the creatures, and this great big planet.”

Each copy is hand-folded and handbound with my tender hands during many a tea ceremony at The Holy Underground in Baltimore. You can grab a copy from the writer, or preview some of the writing on her website here: http://letterstoauntlucy.tumblr.com

Travel By Haiku is out now!

Very excited to announce the release of my first poetry collection, TRAVEL BY HAIKU, released on A Freedom Books, and available now here: http://bit.ly/TravelByHaiku

Grab your copy today!

Travel By Haiku: Volumes 1-5, Still Trippin’ Across The States is a collection of haikus that I wrote over the last two years while traveling from coast to coast across the country. Follow my poetic form, Marshall Deerfield, as he drives through deserts, over mountains, past oceans, and into the setting sun. Each haiku will transport you to a place closer to our native earth.

From Sage Kohen, author of Seeds of Illumination:
“Marshall Deerfield takes us beyond the horizon of hope with Travel By Haiku and reveals the wild, wonderous places (within and without) where freedom still reigns.”

Thank you to everyone who made this possible and supported me along the way! Can’t wait to take you on the road with me in reading this poetry.

Travel By Haiku is out now!

Thanks Patrons!

At the end of last year, I revamped my Patreon campaign to be more like a pay wall to my writing. For a single dollar a month patrons are able to get full access to my forthcoming publication, Travel By Haiku, as I go through various edits with it. I really appreciate the people who have subscribed so far.

coverThis month I cashed out about $50 from my Patreon account and used that money to publish a new chapbook by fellow writer Stephanie B. called Letters To Aunt Lucy, Chapter 1. It is a really exciting collection of writing that delivers extremely poignant verse back and forth between a spokesperson from our generation and our primordial ancestor Lucy. The conversations delve deep into the human condition and deliver a really nice resolve to so many common day dramas we face as human beings.

Without the support of my patrons, this project would’ve been on a lot tighter of a budget, so thank you everyone who contributed. Small amounts really go a long way to helping these imagined projects come to fruition.

You can contribute to my Patreon campaign and guarantee that I can continue with projects like these here:http://patreon.com/marshalljameskavanaugh

The rewards are pretty fun. As mentioned above $1 a month gets you full access to Travel By Haiku. You can read it however you please. A little more gets you access to more of my short stories and longer works, both published and previously unpublished. For $50 a month, I’ll be the driver on your next road trip. It’ll be like Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters driving across the US in a modern day clown car. Send me some love. Really anything helps.

Thanks Patrons!
